Back in the saddle

It's been about 7 weeks since I fell off. I've healed well; I still limp when I get tired, and some positions still hurt, but it's much better. The doctor said it usually takes 6-8 weeks for a normal fracture to heal, so it seems I'm right on schedule.
Prime's been having his summer vacation; my co-rider M was away for a couple of weeks, and I wasn't in any shape to work with him. But she's back, and she's been working him this week. It's fairly warm here, and the geldings seem to spend a lot of time running, so he's not exactly been hard to keep under control... Yesterday she took him out for more than an hour, included some climbing of hills and a bit more trot than he liked, so today he was fairly tired.
I brought out the Western saddle I got from my friend T a while back; it's very comfortable and I feel a lot more secure in case he should get jumpy for some reason; I've noticed before that it gives me much better support when he gets scared and does a sudden swerve. M borrowed T's daughter's horse; one that's small enough to be considered a pony, but built and behaves like a big horse. The three of us went out together.
Getting on was no problem; we have a nice three-tiered platform, and I used the highest one instead of the middle one that I usually manage from. I noticed fairly early that I really can't use my right leg aids - like, at all, it hurts like blazes. We went for a very short walk, up to the house where E, my co-owner, lives, about 500 metres, and then we took the same way back. Prime was very well behaved; he didn't like standing still while we talked with E, but he listened to me when I told him we had to.
It really felt great to be back in the saddle; I've missed it so much. But I must admit that I was very tired and in a bit of pain afterwards, and it'll probably be a while before I can manage any real work. But it's a start!
